Just wanted to get opinions are whether my view agrees with the majority or not as we were having a discussion in my husband's family and it seems myself is on the outer. I wont say which opinion I have but am suprised by the rest of the family's view and just need a reality check maybe.

We had a school function a couple of weeks ago, an easter function fundraiser organised by the P & C. Bouncy castle, face painting, sausage sizzle, dance floor for the kids, stalls that sort of thing. Was at night, started at 5pm finished at 8pm. There was a grassed area for the families to sit, have dinner and a picnic etc, alot of families bought BYO drinks, wine, beer. They school was not selling it, just BYO.

Do you think it is acceptable for parents to bring alcohol and have a drink at a school function or not, and is it morally wrong.

Thanks

I would not be comfortable with any alcohol being present or sold at a school function. I don't want my kids thinking that drinking is "just what adults do" at a social function. I've said the same thing when there's been threads on EB about alcohol being consumed at kids birthday parties- I got flamed for that. I just think that if an adult can't enjoy a social function without a drink there's something wrong with that.

My bold. Yes, just because you don't understand it there must be something wrong with everyone else rolleyes.gif

Absolutely some people have drinking problems. The majority of us just like to have a couple of drinks - there is nothing wrong with that. You would have been right at home in the Temperance movement.
