Hi, my baby is breastfed, but I use formula in her cereal and other foods that require milk. I was wondering how long was the longest I should be keeping the formula tin before replacing it? The current one has been open since 22 March. I don't mind replacing it if I have to, she's only gotten through half the tin so far though.

The formulas that I have used have all said discard any unused formula after 4 weeks.

How old is your baby? I would just use cow's milk for cooking and even cereal, or just water. If she's b'fed, she really wouldn't need any formula.

4 weeks I think but we never used formula on cereal or anything else, just normal cows milk. If your baby has cheese and other dairy products then I would use normal milk.

This. Unless of course there is some specific reason why you are trying to give formula. I used full fat organic cows milk from 6 months in porridge etc. I also used expressed breastmilk if I had a little extra in the freezer.

She's 9 months. I was using full cream milk earlier on, but it was upsetting her reflux. The Karicare formula doesn't seem to upset her at all, even yoghurt upsets her. I tried Nan, S26 (constipation!) & Heinz & she seemed really refluxy after those ones, even in small doses.

It's not that expensive original.gif only $17/tin. I'll just buy another next week.

Thanks ladies original.gif
