I think using a trolley cover or wipes is borderline hysterical. There's germs everywhere, it's good for little ones to be exposed in moderation. I don't know anyone who has used one!

Wow - some judgey replies in this thread! Yay EB!
I use one. I use it because it makes my life easier, like any baby device really. DD 11 months is going through a phase of hating her pram, so I sometimes pop her back carrier, but if she's hungry I will stick her in the trolley with her cover and hand her rice crackers and fruit etc to snack on. The cover is there purely to catch the food crumbs and bigger bits she drops so I can give them back to her easily. Without it I usually miss her dropping something and it's left behind on the floor. I also do it so we don't make such a mess in the shop, I would be constantly picking up bits of debris or else worry that someone would have to clean that up / walk in it / have their kids pick it up and try to eat it etc. Plus it has 3 awesome pockets I can stick her snacks, her bottle, my phone and my shopping list in. Germs don't bother me a toss - DD still loves to chew on the handlebar and especially on the dangly trolley chain lock - apparently it's super tasty! edited for spelling This post has been edited by WaffleGrrrl: 10/04/2012, 10:13 AM |

I have known about them I have never used one or wiped the trolley handle. I don't think it's necessary. It isn't difficult to make sure that the baby doesn't lick/suck on a trolley.

Hi, DS is 10 months and I have started sitting him in the shopping trolley as he became extremely restless in his pram. He absolutely enjoyed the trolley seat and made the whole shopping so pleasant! My DD is 10 months as well, and I just started using the trolley's a month or so ago, and she is the same - she loves it! They must like being up where all the action is, and my DD certainly loves the attention from the other shoppers I have a padded trolley cover that I bought second hand as a bonus with some other baby items. I think it seems nice and comfy for DD, and I can put her toys in there; I'm not really using it for the hygiene factor, although it's a nice bonus. I had no idea that I could be getting judged as precious by other mother's for using it though, I feel a bit sad about that *Edit for weird triple post This post has been edited by Squeak's Mum: 10/04/2012, 08:40 PM |

I have one, and use it sometimes.
I couldn't care less about the 'germ' aspect, I bought it for a bit of comfort and when dd (now 11 months) was younger she had a habit of resting her chin on the hard bit on the side so it made me feel a little better. It also has pockets in it which are great for stuffing keys, phone, wallet, dummies, snacks etc so I don't have to have a separate bag sitting in the trolley. If I'm just running in quickly, I wouldn't bother with it, or with wiping the handle, or her hands... |

I am glad I came across this topic as I only saw these this week and were wondering if I should get one or not. I can imagine there is enough to carry with bub and all th stuff you need to lug around and this would just be another item to add to that.

I loved our cover for both of my girls. The padding made the seat more comfortable when they were small, especially when the trolley was wet from rain or hot from the sun. It also stopped any snacks like sultanas from being dropped all over the floor.
Germs didn't come into it. Once they were older I stopped using it, and I've never wiped the handle etc in my life. |
