Getting this in early, but DH and I have been talking about going to Hawaii for Christmas 2013, as he will have finished his uni degree eexcite.gif and we could have a great 2 week holiday. We are hoping to have a second bub by then, as well as a 2 and a half year old. We've never been to Hawaii, so I'm looking for your suggestions as to what island to visit and any accommodation suggestions.

My Mom will probably also come out from Canada and join us, and possibly my Dad, so we could ideally be looking for a condo or house to stay in (my parents are separated so need their own bedrooms).

We'd probably prefer a not too touristy spot, with good beaches, and reasonable things to do with toddler and baby. Condo or house is preferable so we can cook meals in/do laundry/etc. I'm thinking island hopping is out, so is there an island/location you'd suggest for a 2 week holiday?

We are going to the US in July this year and are finishing our holiday in Hawaii. Like you we couldn't decide on which Island to stay on and as there are 5 of us we really didn't want to stay in Hotel accommodation. Well with much research we have decided to stay on the Island of Oahu as it is our first trip to Hawaii and as we are only staying 7 days we thought we would start here and there is plenty of sightseeing to do there. We were after a more relaxed end to our US trip and wanted to stay out of the busy area of Waikiki. We are staying in a 2 bedroom Apartment at Ko Olina Beach Villas (Kapolei) which is about 30 to 40 drive from Waikiki 20 min from the airport 20 min from Pearl Harbour and a few resorts down from Paradise Cove where we are booked in for the Luau. There is a Safeway Cosco Target 5 minutes drive away the outlets are only 10 minutes away.

It looks to be a very nice area the apartments have very well equipped kitchens Large Balconies great open plan living and large bedrooms. Was built in 2008 there are Large pool areas and your own beach Lagoon. There are a number of Resorts in Ko Olina including the new Disney. It really depends on what you want out of your holiday. Have a look on Ole Propersties that is who we have booked through they are very prompt and effecient to deal with. Debi will be happy to assist you.

You have more time than us so I would break up your trip maybe 3 days in Waikiki then Have a look at Ko Olina If you have time maybe hop across to Maui. It was also suggested to us to bypass Oahu all together and hop on a plane to the Big Island as there is alot more to see and do. Have a look on Trip Adisor lots of great recommendations.

Hope this is helpful to you

Have a look at the Kailua/Lanikai area of Oahu. we rented a house there a couple of years ago. It has a beautiful beach, a couple of supermarkets and a Macy's.
