No they can't The cervix can get swollen and appear to go backwards in labour but it is not a muscle that opens and shuts, it closes after the uterus empties. Is baby's head right down? Waiting for news! Hey there, Nothing yet at all. Baby was right down, 3/5 last week when I had my sweep, with the 2cm dilation and 80% effacement. That was last Tuesday. Seeing the stand in OB tomorrow, but doubt they'll book me in for induction, since my OB gets back to work on Monday and I figure he'll want to take care of things then. |

Good luck Socrates! No baby for me either so I understand your frustration! (Despite regular B-H for 4 days now!). Also seeing Ob tomorrow... Fingers crossed for some movement at the station soon!

I had to wait two weeks and ended up hitting my induction date anyway - so who knows how long it would have really taken!
I hope it starts to progress more for you soon. |

Not long I'm sure!
With my first I had a show at midday and a baby at 1:25am (4hr labour). For my second I had a show in the morning and a baby at 11:05pm (1.5hr labour). Both times I don't recall losing a plug. Best of luck! |

Do I 'win', STBG? :-) We had our boy overnight!
Socrates I know you were worried about a precipitous labour with this one and I think we were a bit similar with our firsts.... Induction and fast labour. Well I had five hours from first contraction to delivery this time, so half as quick as the last. Hope you're going well and meet your bub soon, if you haven't already! |

Yay! Obstetrician has booked my induction for next Tuesday, so all good now! Things could happen sooner of course naturally, but at least now there's a plan!
