I'm wondering how on earth I will keep 2 eagle-eyed kids distracted while I sneak outside and lay out the eggs ready for the hunt. We're rural so if we put it out tonight, the mice from the paddocks around us will be having a very happy easter and the kids won't.

BUT the kids will be up at 5ish and I don't really do mornings well.

What do you think? We have small eggs, hunting eggs and a bunny for everyone.

I used to close the curtains so they couldn't see out the back and ban them from leaving the loungeroom with DH has a guard. They just thought it was a special eating brekkie in front of the TV treat LOL

This year (we did the hunt this morning) I closed the curtains but I'm open to them catching me it's time they knew - you know?

thankfully we don't have to worry about animals/mice here... however i think its supposed to rain over night here so the hunt is kept inside this year.

This year my boys have received a note which contains a collection of stickers, each sticker matching up to a treat they have to find (be it chocolate eggs, bunny, small toy or pjs)... there is this clue written at the bottom:

"Search for your treats
Look in, look under, look out and around, for your treats are sure to be found!"


The presents are hidden all through the lounge, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, hallway and toy room. Some are hidden more easy than others but it will keep them entertained for a bit

Our eggs will be inside, not out for that reason. Remember, if u have dogs to be careful they can't get them, chocolate is poison for dogs!

Kids have to go sit with dad in one of the bedrooms while mum lets easter bunny in the house. He can't open a door with his paws you see. We have a dog, so don't put them outside.

Oh I don't hide them, the back yard slopes and I open boxes and bags and simply tip them out and they roll down the slope and spread out ... sometimes, if I am feeling adventurous I will hide something in a tree or bush. Today i threw them all on the trampoline Oh except a couple I put in a clump of weeds (let's be honest, it's not a real bush ) only DS left it there lol he couldn't find it!

We don't do a hunt, they are in a nest that she made before she went to bed.

We have a similar problem with mice and other wildlife feasting on chocolate if we let the easter bunny come at night.
I either send the kids out with DH to buy the newspaper (I always get the sunday paper so it's nothing unusual) OR the kids skip their shower on the saturday night and the easter bunny sneaks in while they are in the shower on sunday morning.
I actually don't mind the easter bunny visiting after breakfast, at least I know the kids aren't eating chocolate for breakfast LOL

Not too sure what I'll do this year, I'm thinking maybe a white powdery trail for the kids to follow. I need to vacuum the house before we go out tomorrow anyway so I can start it inside
