Hi everyone.

I've recently moved and found myself part of a mums' group that is very pro-FF, because the baby just wants to see what is going, he looks so uncomfortable, etc lame excuses.

Does anyone have links to journal abstracts, or any such information?

(I suspect I won't be part of this mums' group for much longer, but as my parting shot, I'd like to give them some information. )

I'm all for rear facing, but really all people are obliged to do is obey the law. And if they're doing that, asking them to do any extra is not really your place.

MsN these are mums that are FF before their bubs are 6 months, because they "seem ready". So, no, not obeying the law.

And if I can get just one mum to rethink FFing her bub prematurely, then that's a good thing in my book.

I don't think giving them information that could possibly save their baby's life is petty, whether they choose to listen to it or not.

most parents think their babies are like adults in terms of physics. They are not. on top of that the vast majority are not offered the chance to make such informed decision.

What these mothers decide to do is ultimately their choice, but at least they can have the chance of making an INFORMED decision unlike most others.

I'll admit that there is a part of me that wants to be proven right by objective facts. But for the most part I am appalled that there are mums advising first-time mums to front-face babies as young as four months, simply because at that age they start becoming more sociable and wanting to be more involved.
