on the advice of our mchn, we are going to be giving DS 1 - 2 bottles of formula feeds a day. i was looking at the table on the can and it says DS should be having 180ml???? when he has ebm in a bottle he only has 90ml! 180ml seems like an awful lot???? is this right??? im so confused....

It's not important how much he is supposed to be having according to the formula tin. It's just a guide. Make up 180ml and divide into 2 bottles, you'll know soon enough if he's wanting more.

My 12 month old will only drink 120 ml of formula a feed. If your son will only drink 90ml, only give him 90ml. Trying to force any more down him will lead to eating issues or just plain wastage.

A lot of the formula companies are starting to adjust the quantities suggested to give a child per serve to smaller but more frequent amounts. The brand I started my daughter on recommended 240 ml a feed when I first started giving her formula, three weeks later they'd changed it to 180ml with an extra bottle suggested a day.

DS (5 Weeks) drinks anywhere between 100-180ml per feed, most feeds are around 130ml though. I'd make up the 180ml bottle and just see how much he wants to drink.

Just make 1 180ml bottle and see what drinks, then, adjust accordingly. DS1 was formula fed and a big baby and he never finished a bottle. He would always leave around 30 mls, so too much to go down a scoop!!!
