DS1 is turning 5 in a few weeks. Just wondering what ideas people might suggest as a good gift for son. We seem to have trucks, trains and lego coming out our ears. I'm sure he'd be happy to receive more of that and I have no doubt he may receive things like that from relatives. I'm trying to think of other things which might stimulate his mind or will keep him interested over the next couple of years.
He will already be getting from us or friends: Operation Snap Circuits Jr Books Clothes TIA |

Does he have a Leapfrog/pad or similar?
ds just had his 5th and I kept it very low key with presents. He had a party so received so much stuff anyway. We ended up getting him an Art and Craft box and the game Hungry Hippo. |

My DS1 is going to be five in a few months and he loves Growing Dinosaur eggs. I bought him a couple eggs recently and it has given him endless fun watching the dinosaur hatch out of the egg and grow. You can buy them from an Austrian website called: Mad About Science and they have a lot of other very interesting things as well.

Our DS turned 5 last September. We got him a bike with training wheels and it had a police siren and other police like noises. I gota cheap policeman outfit to go with the bike and a matching stack hat
At this age he also got into lego, and then the lego hero factory figures (used to be called bionicles). These keep him occupied for hours on end. |

thanks for all the great suggestions everyone.
He is interested in electricity, of all things, so the Snap Circuits is a little kit for kids that shows them how to do different experiments - light a light bulb, ring a bell etc Scooter - yes actually he has been asking for a two wheeler one (the three wheeler must be cramping his style) Love the Usbourne look inside books! So many great suggestions, I will also use some for whoever asks me what he would like. |
