From each according to his ability, to each according to his nee
it's a silicon cup - you put it in, it catches the blood. Every few hours or so (can be as long as half a day), you take the cup out and pour the blood down the loo and put the cup back in.

I have very heavy periods andused one up until a few years ago. I found it easierand worked better than tampons/pads(and no leakage).

After visiting the supermarket this mornign and spending $13 on feminie hygeine products I think I should invest in a new diva cup!

The only thing I would recommend- I cut off the stem as short as it could go, as i could feel it. And sometimes had to flush twice to get rid of the smear in the bottom of the toilet bowl.

Some women find that their periods are lighter and less crampy when using menstrual cups, I know mine don't last for as long as when I was using tampons and disposable pads. For the cost of them I think it's worth doing a 3 month trial and if you continue to use it after that it's already cost effective.

Put some toilet paper in first, it stops the smearing.

Welcome Amelie! January 18, 2011.
I was going to suggest the same thing - sort of empty it into the toilet paper and then it goes away with the paper when you flush. I had an embarrassing situation once with some that just would not go in a public toilet blush.gif

I find it helps if you -tip, lift your bum, flush, so it is still suspended in the water. I do the toilet paper bit too. Probably not waterwise.

I have a De Luna, holds about 40ml against the super tampon that holds 14ml, so ideal for my heavy periods. way less cramping as it doesn't push up into my cervix when i sit down.

I see a bad-ass mother who don't take crap off of nobody
BEST. IVENTION. EVER.

I have been using mine for about 6 months and was thinking I would start buying them as birthday presents. In fact, I am using mine right now.

I have made my money bck already. Never have to worry i will run out of pads or tampons. Wear it overnight with no fear.

I was getting red and itchy from pads and tampons. So bad. Now I forget I even have my period.
It took me about 2 periods to get it right. I was having leaks but now none. I didnt realise I wasn't letting the cup open after inserting. Haven't had a leak since and I used to always leak at night.
