I was having a great day, just arrived home tonight and the phone was ringing, just missed it. Listened to the message and it was the mil wishing us a happy Easter and hope we are having a good day etc etc.
I now feel so wound up,angry and frustrated at her for ringing. She knows dh is away for work. Why ring ME????? Arghhhh I hate feeling this way whenever the topic of the mil comes up!
Yes there is history there.

Get your pillow, stuff it over your face and scream and scream and scream. It will make you feel better.

Can you also look on the upside? At least you didnt have to speak to her, so try and turn it into a positive (oh and delete the message).

Having plenty of history with my MIL and SIL I can relate and appreciate your vent and anger.

We got rid of our house phone to stop them ringing and leaving horrid messages when we were at work or constantly calling us and then hanging up when I answered.

Hope your day/night/weekend improves original.gif

Sounds like she knows what she is doing, putting on the guilt trip to wind you up...don't let it work!

Maybe she thinks you're lonely with DH away. Maybe she's lonely and just wanted a chat.

I don't know your history with her but take a deep breath and move on, it's not worth putting such a huge amount of energy into feeling so bad over a phone call, especially when you didn't even have to speak with her.

Big breath.

Now - wasn't it great that you missed the call?

You could have answered it in time.... sounds like a lucky evening after all!

Ugh what a drama for you.

Can you just leave your answer machine on and wait till you hear the voice before you answer or not? it would save the whole ringing twice thing or is it hearing her voice that does it also
