My 4yr old is 109cm tall, 19.5kg. He is currently in an old standards MRII and still fits in that seat height wise. I was going to keep him in that seat till 20-21kg.

My 2.5yr old is 16.5kg and 100cm tall. He is in an old standards babylove ezyswitch and while he technically still fits in the seat (eyes are below the shell) the top of his head is showing above the seat line so I would like him in a taller seat. I am considering putting him in the MRII and getting a new height marked seat for my 4yr old.

The new SnS compaq has very generous height markers, a friend of mine is reviewing one at the moment and her 116cm 5yo could still use the seat with a harness according to the marker line.
I would love one of these for my 4yo, but then the weight question comes up, what if he is 116cm tall still fits the seat in regards to the markers but is 25kg (doubt it but?? you never know? and for $499 It's a question worth asking wink.gif)

I would love to keep him in a harness as long as possible so is it weight or is it marker line???

The height marked seats are still only required to be tested with a 22kg dummy. I don't get how it can be safe but those with far more knowledge than me have designed the new system. I personally would not use a seat past 22kg.
On a different but related note are the height markers at a standard height on all seats? I haven't measured but some look really low others like they would fit quite a tall child in the harness e.g. one that is likely to be over 22kg.

As PP has said the Aus/NZ 1754 standard only talks about testing with 22kg test dummies still. I believe SnS does overload testing with higher weight test dummies but have not confirmed this.

Personally I would be happy to use a seat to 22kg like PP. I would also be happy to use a seat beyond the height markers (so long as my child's shoulders were no more then 2.5cm above top shoulder slots and eyes/ears not level with the top/sides of seat) for as you say there is some differences in where the height markers are on different seats (I have also found height markers in different places on the same seat too huh.gif ).
