Happy Friday!

I have made an appointment to see the director at the clinic I am at in Sydney. I made the decision to switch FS only because I want to get a fresh eyes approach to our situation.

The thing is my clinic does not believe in immune issues etc, so I dont know how this new FS will even allow me to try anything different or at least change my protocol. Blah, blah, blah...

Am i doing the right thing? Current FS is a guru in MFI so that is why we had been recommended to him in the first place, but I really just want to see another pair of fresh eyes on this matter. After 7 failed transfers youd want to. Im also seeing an reproductive immunologist as well but that is a separate thing with my NK cells.

Again, an area thats very controversial and shady, but hey makes you feel like you are doing something right.

Have you done this before and have felt guilty as hell? Do you tell your current FS? And then what if it doesnt work with new FS (or worse still you dont like them) do you go back. sh*t!

Thanks ladies.

xx

I changed FS's within my clinic after 7 failed transfers.

I just booked an appointment with the new FS of my choice and got a new GP referral.

I didn't say anything to my old FS.

Any doctor who gets upset that a patient seeks a different opinion is a douchebag. In fact, most encourage it.

Be open about it. Just tell both the you just wanted fresh eyes after 7 failed transfers. Both will understand.

I changed FS. The first told us to go straight to IVF after 3 failed clomid cycles. Due to DHs sperm results she figured it wasn't worth trying anything else. We weren't ready for that step and DH was a bit offended and felt like she just wanted our cash. We were sure we could do it without IVF since we already had a child conceived naturally. Second FS was willing to try pregnyl injections and sure enough I got pregnant first try and we felt totally vindicated in our choice. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage and after 10+ more tries we didn't have any further success. So now we are back to IVF anyway. Perhaps if I had listened to her we would have actually got to this process 15 months ago. Anyways, you have to do what sits right with you at the time, and we just weren't ready for it then. Good luck.

Zoe - I have done and I am doing at the moment.

I wasnt happy with my 1st FS at all to be quite honest and had been thinking of changing clinics even before we started IVF but didnt. Then for my first FET (3rd transfer) another dr from the clinic did it as mine was away. Those 10 mins with him he asked so many more questions then the other one ever did so I made an appt to see him 2 weeks later. He did a heap more testing as he thought the other one hadnt done enough and low and behold - Endo. So I had a Lap the following week and I had Endo removed and it was discovered my right tube is blocked. I then went on to have another transfer last month.

As I said in my other post I have to live with every other single person around me doing IVF getting it 1st go and this is from many different clinics so I dont go by his theory. So I am changing clinics.

I rang the other clinic I have been toying with going to for a while and got an appt. During one of my calls the FS at the clinic (it is a small private clinic in Sydney) overheard and asked given our circumstances that both my DH and I do our testing before seeing her. So we did all our testing last week and then we got a phone call that they had a cancellation (I asked to be put on the cancellation list) and we got an appt for tomorrow. So I am going to my new clinic tomorrow, they are happy to accept embies from another clinic which we will arrange but I am going to be asking to do a fresh cycle with her and I am also going to ask about immune issues as I know I have had two failed implants on both my FETs.

Oh almost forgot to add - yes guilt for the first change from one dr to another in the same clinic but no guilt what such ever for clinic changes. I couldnt care less what they think to be honest.

I changed FS - my first one just wouldn't listen to me, wouldn't even consider I could have a LP defect. Now I look back and I cant believe I wasted nearly 12 months on him, and those 12 months could have meant the difference between having a baby now or where we are with no baby and given up.

If you feel he won't listen to something you want to try, the change and don't feel guilty. I found some FS are just set in their ways or do things the way they see and won't try other methods, tests etc in new research because for most of their patients they don't need to. Remember its your time and money - second opinions can never hurt.

Hey All. Thanks for the updates.

I have made an appointment with a new FS but to be quite honest my gut instinct says to stay where I am as my current FS lets me try anything I suggest. He is very open to any ideas. There is nothing else he can try anyway. The only thing he hasnt done is pull a rabbit out of a hat, maybe that might get me pregnant! He believes its a numbers game for me.

So by switching i think im going back in circles and i cant waste any more time however i wouldnt mind getting a second opinion just to say i have? I have two months to think about it i guess.

xx
