Hi, My GP would like to book me in sometime, when Im ready to see a Fertility Specialist after having two recurrent miscarriages. Does anyone know if there is a FS in Kalgoorlie or not? as that is my nearest town. Or will I have to travel to Perth?

Have no idea, however I THINK SIVF - Sydney IVF - (think it is now called Genia) have a very good recurrent miscarriage area and they will treat you via distance. THey are pretty $$$ and will probably cost you more for telephone consults (but weigh up the cost of petrol and time - not sure how far away from Perth you are). Good luck, OP.

I would say I will have to go to Perth, but its just that Kalgoorlie would be a nearer town to go to, but not sure if they have any FS there? Will definately consider the one you recommended thanks for that, as Perth is quite a distance from us (600km). I will discuss it with my GP.

I would second the Sydney IVF - their rate for take home babies was very high, but I haven't the statistics these days. I do know of a few hopeful parents flying from Victoria to that clinic and happily being delivered of a healthy baby.

Thanks Winterdanceparty for youre reply, Its sounds like its abit of a distance for me to have a clinic in Sydney? If it was only blood tests and phone conversations they needed that might be ok, but i would imagine they may want to do some physical testing which would make it abit difficult.
I will have to ask my GP for a referral to a good clinic in W.A, I would imagine that I will be referred to one in Perth. |

They haven't gone nuts M3BB, Sydney IVF was the name of the clinic at Hollywood Hospital in Perth. I think it is now Hollywood IVF.
None of the FS's go to Kalgoorlie, however Dr McCallum there does do the early work up, and would probably be the best place for you to start your journey after MC's. Wishing you luck. |

I'm going to him for my pregnancy as Ive had 2 prev cs and I'm having twins. One of my girlfriends went through him to see a fs and has since done ivf and been successful goodluck

As Jess said, he's not a FS but is a good obgyn who can get a start on any investigations needed and steer you in the right direction so you don't have to make as many trips to Perth.
I was confused by the Sydney IVF thing at first too! |

Thanks beaglebaby, that sounds good it would make it alot to start with a specialist in Kalgoorlie, perhaps I will have to do one or two trips to Perth. BTW what does Obgyn stand for? Im not to familiar with abbreviations. Is he like a gynacologist? I gather he s not actually a Fertility Specialist?
