i'm 41 weeks 1 day- i am vbac. My ob is happy for me to go to 42 weeks and has then said i will need a csec (csec, vbac, csec) i have had attempted S&S for 4 weeks and my cervix while open on the outside the inside is still closed and quite far back
i have 7 days to get this big ole baby to come on her own but she just isnt! i am not uncomfy or over it, but know it is getting unsafe for her to be in there (placenta has small amounts of calcification) Dates are 100% so no chance of them being off.... i have been walking, sitting only on exercise ball, having lots of sex, nipple stim..... spicy foods.... driving over alot of speed bumps daily... does clary sage oil work ? i just read something about that... also even if i am not dilated at all at my 42 week appt, could they just hook me up to pitocin and get me contracting and see how i went for a few hours? (totally forgot to ask her this yesterday!) Thanks everyone This post has been edited by mummaorange: 05/04/2012, 02:04 PM |

Fit ball bouncing, pineapple, rasberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil (orally), pressure points on my ankles.....but pretty sure it was the stretch and sweep that did it

It is up to your Ob whether they'll give you the synto, mine won't. Higher chance of uterine rupture. They will break the waters to get things started though. At least you get the chance to go to 42 weeks I will be lucky o be allowed to 41 weeks. I hope your labour starts really soon. Fingers crossed for you that it all works out.

Thanks everyone Doubt it. It's contraindicated for previous c/s/ people. I think it's supposed to increase the risk of uterine rupture to try to artificially get you to contract... cos you never know how fast or how pwerfully you're going to respond to the hormone. |

I'm ina similar boat OP (although a few weeks off) my OB won't let me go past 41 weeks, and any kind of synthetic hormone is a no no for VBAC! As an earlier poster said, it can increase the chance of rupture. If you're somewhat dilated at 42 weeks they could try breaking your waters/sweeping, but it sounds like you're all closed up in which case, they won't try. The only other thing I could suggest would be chinese medicine - personally I am not a fan (although currently using it to try to turn breech bub) but I have heard there are some herbs and so on that can prep you for labour.
Good luck! |

Castor oil gives you the runs and I don't think it's a good idea to use it. I'd ask my OB for advice before trying that.

i was given pitocin with my last birth though which was induced. and i had had 1 csec and one vbac prior to that?
just ended in emerg csec but nothing to do with uterine rupture etc. ob has said no way to castor oil- she said the bad things that happen in vbac in her experiences have majority of the time been with those who have used castor oil. the last thing on her list is sitting in the bath and using breastpump intermittently. so that is the plan for this evening LOL |
