Never forget who you are, little star
A few weeks ago out of the blue, our TV signals started to play up, the picture and sound breaking up, the 'poor signal quality' message popping up, and sometimes no signal at all, just a black screen. This is happening on both of our Sony Bravia TVs.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so what did you do about it?

not happened to me, but first thing I would be doing was getting someone to check my aerial. Have you had a storm lately?

Good question re. possible storm damage. But knowing which part of which location you're in may also help with advice.

We had it and we had to get an antenna guy out to do something (I have no idea what!!) to our antenna. It works perfectly now.

He told us you can buy a signal strengthening device from electrical shops, but sometimes they don't work. So we just ot him to fix it. We have a signal strengthening thing at our holiday house and it works beautifully, it's a little box between the tv and aerial point. We got it from retravision.

We found the tv furtherest away from our antenna was the worst.

This happened to us in Melbourne recently. DH replaced the aerial and cable and it has been perfect ever since.

We are based on the gold coast & have had the exact same problem.

We got the antenna man out & found out that our antenna was not actually a digital one (there is a difference - i know he wasn't taking us for a ride) & we also had a signal strengther put on.

In QLD, whilst we still have digital & analogue signals, ABC digital is still only operating at a 25% signal strength, whereas the others are closer to 75%.

Also we find when there is a lightening storm we loose some of our digital channels, though only temporarily.

We are in northern Sydney - storms have been a feature this summer. I'm debating whether to wait for DH to get around to looking at it or just calling someone to come and fix it.

Might give DH the Easter break to look at the cables and aerial and if it's still a problem after that I'll call someone.

This morning the DVD player packed up and now DD can't even watch her movies/DVDs! Argh!

ETA: ABC and channel 9 have been the worst affected with 7 and 10 not too bad. I think SBS has been on the blink as well.

Happened here too, we are thinking of calling an antenna guy, we had Sony look at our Bravia and we actually had a blown tuner{?} - it was under warranty so they replaced it free but it still happens so I think we need a signal strengthener.

You can buy those signal strengthener thingies from the supermarket even.. they are only about $20... Best.Thing.Ever!

If it has suddenly gone bad - and there isn't weird weather happening, it does sound as if your antenna has been knocked about.

We had the same. We are north of you and after weeks of stuffing around and watching DH nearly bust a poofle value in frustration, we coughed up the dollars to get an antenna guy out and found that we had to get 2 aerials. One for sydney and one for newcastle. The problem we have here is the signal from both were competing against each other. Also the ABC uses the same signal from Newie as it does from Sydney. Also we had some houses etc being built around us and we had to go higher to get the signal clearer.

So 2 proper digital aerials (not the ones from Bunnings as they dont work they way they are supposed to) later, Its all perfect *touch wood, *touch wood,*touch wood
