Hi
just wonder if you drink alcohol while on IVF?

Once I start my drugs I may have once glass of wine, if I’m in the situation where it’s expected you would drink but I always drive so have that as a fall back excuse why I'm not drining much (my husband loves it he is very supportive and will take one for the team and drink in the social events so me driving is more realistic biggrin.gif ),

Once the transfer is done I have nothing at all.

On the between month when not on IVF I drink as per normal.

Just wondering what others do?

April

I personally dont drink during cycles, once im on cycle day one i treat my body like im pregnant. But i also only have about 12 glasses of wine a year Tounge1.gif

If you want a glass of wine on one occasion, one wouldnt hurt.

As for your DH if he needs to give a sample, drinking shouldnt be on the cards.

spotty.

I'm in my first cycle and had a drink the night before I started, mainly to get over the number of needles that arrived in my bag from the clinic.

The consent forms at our clinic were pretty explicit about not smoking during treatment but there was nothing about alcohol consumption.

Like spottydog, I'm not drinking at all whilst on meds. I've also had some bloating and haven't had the yearning for a drink anyway.

For my past IVFs I only drank between cycles and I'm only a light social drinker anyway. We're due to start up again soon and it will probably be the same. My FS has been concerned about my stress levels in the past and said between EPU and transfer she'd be happy for me to have a few drinks to help me relax.

I had my sister's wedding the day after one particularly upsetting BFN (well, aren't they all!) and I must admit I got blind-drunk at the after-party. Too many relos asking when I was going to have a baby... cry1.gif

I had a drink here and there during the first half of my IVF cycle as I was in social situations where it was expected (wedding, hens night etc.). I don't drink much (maybe 3 drinks per week on average). I also didn't drink in the few days leading up to the egg pick up and transfer, nor after the transfer. I have been TTC for 2.5 years, so if I didn't have a few drinks in the first half of my cycles then I wouldn't be having any. Ever. That would be a bit too sad for me personally.

I am also a very light social drinker (occasional drink at Christmas or out for dinner) so generally dont drink during IVF. But for this FET I have had 1 glass of champagne at an engagement party, but that was on day 9 of a very long medicated and all I was taking at that stage was the pill and synarel.

To be honest, i dont think a drink here or there matters at all. My clinic hasnt said much about drinking or not drinking and they seem happy to leave it to my discretion.

I drank up till transfer date. I know people who stop drinking for their entire TTC journey, but I chose not to.

Actually, between last EPU and transfer I got drunk. Not proud, not the best idea, wouldn't recommend it, but ...BFP ph34r.gif

I'm not a drinker at all, although this time round i scoffed some wine pre and after transfer to relax me. Funny i was on the bus with my little flask lol. On the Genea website it says alcohol in moderation... I will perhaps require a scotch after my BFN.

I fell naturally but i didnt drink the whole time. When i drunk 5 glasses of wine on New Years Eve I got pregnant! I had been taking ttc very serious for 7 months before.

I have had a couple drinks on different days during pregnancy. But they still recommend theres no safe amount.

We had our interview with IVF nurse yesterday and she said their policy is no drinking, but that they think that IVF is hard enough without cutting everything from ur life so she was happy for us still to drink in moderation. Haven't started taking meds yet so might not even feel like a drink!
