DS (19 months) seems to "go off" meals quite quickly at the moment so I need some more recipes or ideas to keep that variety up - is anyone able to share their reliable favourites?
He doesn't have any food restrictions and likes all the obvious things like bolognaise, scrambled eggs, sausages and mashed vegies, meatballs, chicken schnitzel. He doesn't like sandwiches so what I really need are things for him to take for daycare lunches. All suggestions appreciated. |

Lunches are tricky aren't they? Especially at that age. Do most kids take something like a sandwich or do they spoon feed leftover dinners and things like that?
My DS is about 20 months and I've got so say in the last few months he has become super fussy too. He will literally not eat any vegetables (that he sees!) He loves fried rice, spag bol, sausage, any kind of meat, egg. You know what's good? Those mini kid sized ravioli. Just boil them up and serve them plain or with a sauce. They are a great finger food. My son loves stabbing them with his fork and popping them in his mouth. |

I agree on the ravioli!
Or I make "pizza" just on a little wrap or tortilla with as much healthy stuff as I can hide in there. What about the savoury slice/muffin type things - there are loads of recipes for them on here if you search |

From what I see in the fridge at daycare the other kids are about evenly split between hot leftovers and sandwiches.
I like to try to get some vegies into him at lunch as well, because he is shockingly bad when it comes to fruit. The ravioli is a good idea, I will have to try that! And I'm actually trying pita pizzas tonight for dinner so there's another good idea. Keep them coming please! |

Pizza went down pretty well last night - used a wholemeal tortilla and cut the toppings really finely - capsicum, olive, feta, bacon, onion and baby spinach. Lots of mozzarella on top and he ate it - but boy he took forever! Will probably try the kids ravioli on the weekend and see how that goes. He's a bit funny about pasta - most of the time I end up putting his bolognaise with rice instead, he loves that.

Hi,
My dd 17m also loves the raviolis! I think she could eat them bfast lunch and dinner if allowed Another big winner at our house is zucchini slice. I use the super easy recipe from the taste website and also add corn, peas, mushroom for extra veggie goodness. It's delicious and it freezes really well so you can make a bigger batch and pull a slice out early in the morning. Homemade sausage rolls with grated zucchini and carrot are also a hit as are spinach and cheese filo triangles. If we're on the go i'll often make up an "open sandwich" as my dd doesnt like normal sandwiches - cut up tomato, cheese, cucumber sticks, avo, left over roast chicken or a couple of slices of ham and half a slice of bread cut up in little squares spread with hummus. She can pick and choose what she wants to eat Good luck! I'm a creature of habit when it comes to my lunch - happy with the same salad and tuna/ham so it can be tough thinking outside the square every day!!! |

Noodles? Leftovers? Fritters? Savory muffins? Cut up chunks of meat, cheese, veg? Croquettes?
Our centre does not heat food beyond nursery room, so we will be sending food in a thermos, which will be noodles or ravioli, or curry and rice, or anything and rice really. She will eat it. |
