I was wondering for those who have had their LO turn 2 and they had a birthday party, do you invite kids from day care? I know there is one little girl my DD loves to play with, I have not met the mum, I am not sure I have even seen her at pick up and/or drop off.
Friends have had mixed responses to this question, so I thought I would put it out to the EB community. I was thinking of just having family, and friends (who would bring their kids - varying ages from 3 to 10). edited - bad spelling!!! This post has been edited by bella_75: 04/04/2012, 03:43 PM |

DD will be 2 just before your DD and we're only having close friends and family. There are a few kids that DD likes at daycare, but I don't know the parents and she won't care either way if they're there or not. She'll have her favourite cousin at her party & that'll be enough for her

I am thinking DD may be too young to understand or care if her friend is there or not. Maybe next year.

We asked DS's carers to let us know the 5 children he played with the most. We invited them, his cousins, and a couple from mother's group. I should note DS was in care 5 days a week so the CC kids were the kids he played with and recognised the most.
All up we had about 10 2 y/o, 5 older/younger cousins + some friend siblings + all the parents. We actually found it a good way to meet the parents we hadn't meet at pickup/dropoff times. |

We just invite family over for a BBQ and cake.
The cousins all play together and have fun. I'm putting as little effort as possible into birthdays, Christmas etc until my children actually care about it. |

Thanks for the replies! DD is only in care two days at the moment as I am on mat leave, it may be different if it was 5 days.
Thanks again! |

We had a pretty big party for our daughter's 2nd birthday, but it was still basically our friends invited, including mothers group friends with kids the same age. At that age she still wasn't really at a point where she would pick and choose who her friends are.
