My daughter wants a 'space' theme party this year. I cannot dissuade her at all and she has already figured out how we can make her a Saturn cake based on the humpyt dumpty cake she saw in a cake book LOL

Any ideas? I am completely stuck at the moment I did find instructions on how to make a rocket mobile with sparkly bits. I also found an alien template: the first person draws a head and folds along the dotted line, the second person draws the body (but without looking at the head) and then again with the folding and not-looking for the third person to draw the legs. Other than that, I am stumped. It will most likely be all girls so anything girly would be great

Moon rock hunt - use small easter eggs or similar and do a treasure hunt

Eat Saturns rings - hang donuts (saturns rings) from strings and get them to eat them with their hands behind their backs

Pin the Veeblung on the Zorg - a variant of pin the tail on the donkey, use your imagination

If you have a trampoline you could let them have turns "jumping on the lunar surface"

Martian (green and ugly) and Venusian (pink and pretty) face painting.

*Maybe a big cut out rocket for pin the star on the rocket's tail
*A big craft table with glitter, ribbons, glue, pens and some coat hangers, string and those foam balls to make the solar system
*A treasure hunt through the yard for cut out stars, planets etc. Whoever gets the most wins a prize?
*Decorations - black and silver balloons and black and silver tablecloths, then maybe some huge big stars
*Food - Jellycups with those little aliens in the party packs from the two dollar shop on top

Great party ideas, space themes have a lot of versatility. Goodie bags could consist of mars bars and milky ways, and sherbet could be "moon dust" and pop rock candy could be alien food

Between now and then save all your old boxes - get some BIG ones too and buy a few rolls of tin foil. Use them to play a variation on the bridal shower game were the guests get in groups and make a toilet paper bridal dress for one of the group - have the children at the party make an astronaut /space suit with boxes and tin foil!

Remember the pet rocks that used to be around in our youth.
smooth rocks with googly eyes on them and paint or glitter or fancy feathery pipe cleaners.

They could all take home thier own space alien then.

Wow I think a space theme would be so cool. I am coordinating some decorators to make cakes in the same theme for a school holiday program and a friend of mine is making a saturn cake next week.

When it comes to cakes I think Saturn is like the planet of planets lol. Are you making it 3d? That ring will make it a little interesting but there are a few ways it could be done. I can give a few ideas if you need.

This was made by a professional decorator but if you were into it you could do the planets in a similar way on a single tier or even get a custom edible image to use and it I think the kids would love it.
