I've been using a Lunette for around four years, and in the past year or so, I've found that in almost every cycle, I get quite itchy "down there" on about day 4 of my cycle, it gets to the point were I can't wait to take it out because it's pretty much instant relief!
Anyone else experienced this? What can I do? I don't want to give up my cup!!
I sterilise before each use, and dont use any soaps etc on it - I'm not sure what could be causing it!
Any ideas? sad.gif

or Fembo maybe...
Could it be the tab? I get pretty delicate down there after a few days, and as it gets drier I think the tab rubs on my 'bits' more. I don't use mine after the flow slows down due to that irritation (when I have heavy flow it seems to lubricate it enough that it's not a problem).
Not sure of a solution though apart from cutting off the tab - but it'd make it harder to get out. Cutting it shorter maybe?

I haven't had any side effects from using mine.

Interesting that it happens on day 4 though, so it's not the cup as such, as if you had any issues with that it would happen on day 1, so perhaps PP is right, the tab could be irritating you when it is more dry (as in you have a much lighter flow by day 4)?

Have you shortened or cut off the tab at all yet?

I shortened mine when I first got it as I found it bugged me a little being so long. No issues at all since cutting it shorter though.

Hmmm interesting, maybe it is the tab?? Would the tab rubbing make it itchy though?

I get this..when using tampons/cup. I actually reckon it's the dryness. Because normally you have a natural lubricant but when you have a cup/tampon in it stops it.

That's my theory anyway because as you said when you remove it's fine.

Possibly, if it is irritating your skin. Worth a shot though original.gif

Milasmum - See I find cups totally different to tampons. Cups don't stop the natural lubricant your body creates as they do not suck moisture away like tampons do.

Actually yeah, I did have to cut the first segment and a half off the tab of my lunette too...

Try turning the cup inside out, that way you can see if the stem and/or the ridges on the outside of the cup are affecting you at all (without having to cut off the stem). Also, try wetting the cup with water before inserting perhaps?

I developed an allergy to silicone and had to ditch my lunette cup and I tried The Keeper, which is made of some sort of rubber and not silicone. I havent had an issue since.

Your symptoms sound similar to what mine were.....
