I think the dental issues arise when the child falls asleep with milk pooled in their mouth. That doesn't really happen with breastfeeding.

My 14 month old still loves his bottles. He has one in the morning, one at night and sometimes an afternoon one as well, although not always full bottles. I offer the bottles after food to encourage him to eat rather than fill up on milk, but i probably wont worry too much until he's about 2 as he just loves it. He does drink very small amounts of water from a sippy cup. if i think he has had too much milk i often add a bit of water and he doesn't seem to notice.

23 month old DS has always loved his milk...would demand cups of it all the time and always had one right before sleep. In the last month or so he seems to have cut right back to the point now where I try and give him one before bed (helps him sleep better and settles the tummy)....he has been asking for water instead
