We have just bought an Electrolux front loader but it isnt being delivered for a couple of weeks and the salesman said we can change to another model if we like as I was erally undecided in the shop.
The Electrolux is the perfect size for us and has great Choice reviews but sadly I've read over the weekend of some issues re problems with this model on www.productreview.com.au and that has worried me. I want a reliable machine and it seems that some people are having major issues with theirs.
The base model Bosch is in our budget but offers a smaller capacity (7.5kg compared to 8kg of the Electrolux we have bought - we are a family of 6) also according to choice it does not wash as well as the Electrolux and has a slower spin speed. It offers better energy consumption however.
I am really stuck on which way to go - stick with the Electrolux which according to Choice is a very good machine and will suit our needs perfectly, or downsize to the Bosch which is of a good quality, smaller in size and does not wash as well as the Electrolux (according to Choice).
Does anyone else own an Electrolux to give me any feedback as to whether it was reliable or not?

I have a bosch and I like it but dont love it. maybe I wouldnt love any washing machine though with the amount of washing I do.

I think with the cheaper bosch models you have to check where they are manufactured, the $ ones are made in germany but the entry level ones are made in asia somewhere.

in the end I would trust choice over productreview.com simply because choice have no vested interest whereas you never knopw where the reviews are coming from on the other site.

My Bosch has a MUCH faster wash time than my mothers electrolux. It also gets the clothes considerably cleaner.
My Bosch has also survived going completely underwater in a flood once and a partial submersion a second time. It still works like new. At the time we purchased it it was the TOP machine available through Bosch but is now the base model.

Given a choice between the two brands I will go Bosch every time, just based on our experience with the brand.

I had an Electrolux front loader a couple of years ago. It broke down, unrepairable, two weeks out of warranty. Ie 2 years and 2 weeks old.

Go with the Bosch! Ours is a 6 kg and I still manage to stuff in a lot!

I had an Electrolux based on Choice results, and it was a dog of a machine. When it was only a few months old it developed a ridiculously loud spin cycle. After reading up online about it, I realised it was a common problem and one that couldn't be rectified.

As soon as the opportunity arose, I replaced it with a Bosch (had the opportunity to buy brand new at half-price). While there are some features of the Electrolux that I miss (the user-programmed cycle mainly!), I like the Bosch much better, even though it's smaller, and I'm washing for 7.

ETA: Unlike a PP, I have found productreview.com.au to be a more accurate reflection of more than one product I have read reviews for AFTER having problems with it, than Choice's results. Vice versa, I have also read Choice results for products I have and love that put them bottom of the list or even "shouldn't be on the market".

I bought a BOSCH and it lasted two years before dying! It was out of warranty and cost $1500 brand new ... not happy! All of the salesmen tried to talk me into another BOSCH however I didn't want to get one again due to my bad experience. I decided to spend a little less and bought a SAMSUNG 8kg and I love it! I did a lot of research and there is A LOT of negativity about the Electrolux ... although I have no personal experience.

I have a Bosch Maxx Top of the Range. I keep thinking it is only a few years old but really its 12 years old!

It looks brand new and still works like its a brand new machine. Is pretty quiet as far as washing machines go, certainly can be put on at night with no problems.

The quick wash cycle is great, and for most washes is completely adequate. Really soiled towels, dog blankets, etc I put on normal cycle with rinse plus. Takes a while but really gets all the dirt out.

One day (hopefully far away) I will definitely replace this machine with another Bosch.

My Electrolux is over 4 years old. The spin cycle is noisy, but other than that, i am very happy with it.

Go for the one with the better electricity usage. this is going to become mega important in tthe future and washing machines have to last a long time. Ring manufacturer or google - tthere are sites set up with this info
