I have an 11 week old and he has been in the seat since birth. He has a bit of reflux, so the angle of the seat has meant he slept amazingly well in it. I do have the capsule, and planned to use it instead of the seat.... But the adaptors are sold out everywhere for at least another month or two. The straps are large on him, but not really the end of the world. I probably would have used the bassinet had I know I couldn't get the adaptors for months.

We had DS2 in the seat from around 9 weeks. I just bought one of those padded head cosy/head hugger things and added that to the seat.
Prior to buying the BJCS, I was using a double Mountain Buggy with bassinet, but DS2 really didn't like the bassinet after he hit around 6 weeks, so I wasn't going to buy another.
I also use our Ergo a fair bit and have DS1 in the BJCS by himself as I prefer to baby wear when my babies are little.

I am a huge fan of the basinet, just love swaddling bub in the early weeks. Got nearly 5 mths out of it, for my average sized DD. The only thing that I didn't like is that the frame of the second seat is actually used to make the bassinet. So the bassinet kit is just the fabric as such, and you need to assemble it. So this means you can't just chop & change between the seat and bassinet if your bub is say 4 mths old. You need to assemble which takes maybe 10minutes. I think the expense is well worth it, although I bought from the USA.

I have a BJCM but think the same might apply for BJCS - I have my bubs in a Valco Cocoon clipped onto the seat. If you attach the clips on the cocoon to the highest seatbelt hooks it absolutely cannot slide anywhere. Bubs can lie flat in that and it's very snuggly. It's ~$70 so cheaper than the BJ bassinet. You can also use it as a lightweight travel bassinet It's not rear facing, but you can see bub's head thru the window in the pram shade.

Another one who used the BJCS from birth without the bassinet. Same as what PP said, the straps were a pain and there's a slight recline, but we put on a lambskin and he was snug as a bug. I thought about buying the bassinet but changed my mind after realising that he wouldn't be strapped in. Although I don't think that it's really unsafe since newborns don't move around much.

If we have another baby I don't think we'd buy the bassinet.

I'm in the same situation, expecting #2 in Aug but will be 2yr 10mths age gap.

Currently, I have the Elite and decided on the Mini double but it doesn't fit thru our front gate, so comtemplating the City Select.

I'm not sure about the need for a bassinet either as I have one for our Elite and only got 2/3 mths used out of it.

I spoke to a Mum at my pilates class and she has a 3mth old and she said she didn't bother with the bassinet and just padded the seat and put the bub in. She's had no problems with it.

Different question for those of you who have had your CS for a while...I'm thinking of ordering mine from the US as it's way cheaper with the double seat. Hoping to get away with a cheap pram as hubby doesn't think we need another pram and should make do with our Elite but our DS (who's 2.5yr old now) still loves sleeping in the pram, so I need to cater for him if he needs to sleep when I take them out for walks.

misschris - you mentioned you ordered from US, would you mind telling me what site you got it from?? Have you had any problems with your pram?

I'm looking at this site but not sure if anyone has heard of them. I found them via Amazon and feedback has been good but got burnt last time ordering something else from another US site.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! original.gif

have you tried the Winkalots site (it is NZ, so still meets Aust Safety standards apparently). a few weeks ago, I priced a BJCS with extra seat for just under $800 aus (the same package here is over $1000) and it has free postage to Australia.

NK0709 - Yes, I saw that a while ago and should have bought it. At that stage, I was leaning towards the Mini double and had no intention of getting the Select. Only getting Select now as Mini double doesn't fit through our front gate..

Been aware of Winkalotts for a while but it's still costing me $900+ atm, whereas in the US (that website I mentioned) - it would only cost me $680, plus free postage for a double Select, which i think is pretty good.

I do like the fact that Winkalotts has Australian standards and closer for return of warranty if need be as Aust Post is soo expensive!

So still undecided but getting desperate now... sad.gif
