Alicia Silverstone blog

I heard about this on the radio this morning and just clicked on the link they quoted and I am not too sure what to think of this??

Is this a new thing in the western world or is this some form of attachment parenting or some sort?? They said on the radio that when she was contacted for a comment she said it is not unhygienic as the mother has enzymes in her mouth that are beneficial for the baby and they also kill off any bacteria.

In a way I think it is quite sweet as they seem to be having a close moment and the baby is happy and adorable but I just don't know???

WDYT?

Unnecessary. I breastfeed until an age where my babies can put food in their own mouth.

I think its kinda gross. I wonder how long she thinks it will be acceptable [for her] to keep doing it. I think it [could] delay teaching him how to eat.

I saw it yesterday! I think it's quite gross.

Our ECHN & dentist said bacteria/teeth decay etc can be easily passed on, Eg. Sucking a dummy to clean, sharing toothbrushes etc.

Ok for birds, not humans IMO!

when i grow up i wanna be like me
It's disgusting and wrong. someone tried to say it was ok, birds feed their young this way so what is so bad about it, for one we are not birds, we are people, how the hell will her child learn to chew his food if she does it for him, not to mention the ridicule he will face when he hits school if she continues to do this sort of thing.

No that's weird. The enzymes are specific to your digestive requirements not someone elses and the bacteria far outnumber the enzymes.
