I feel like this is a dumb question, but never mind!
I know cow's milk is a no-no until 12 months, so if you're making things likje cereal or mashed potato for bub, what to you use? Just EBM or can they have soy milk? thanks |

My understanding is that cows milk is ok in cooking, as long as it's not their main 'milk' drink. They need breastmilk or formula until 12 months, and after that they can have cow's milk and be weaned from breastmilk/formula (of course they don't have to be weaned). So we've used cows milk on weetbix and in cooking since my little one was about 8 months. She's 11 months now.

Full cream cows milk is fine under 12 months if it is in food. I used it for DD since I had issues expressing and needed what little I had for bottles at daycare.

You can use cows milk. That's what I did with my kids.

We used cow's milk in food and cooking as well as natural yoghurt and cheese etc from around 9 or 10 months. I don't think it's a no no as long as its just a bit here and there and they don't have huge bottles of it. I did use EBM to start with, mixing it with rice cereal and mashed pumpkin etc.

According to my GP, CHN and a few other websites I researched, full fat cows milk is perfectly fine in and on food from 6 months. It is just not to be used as a drink or replacement for breastmilk/formula before 12 months.
We used it on DD's cereal from 6-7 months as it was too depressing for me to spend time/effort expressing milk and then not have her eat the food! lol |

Oh tho I should mention that dairy can be a fairly common allergen so if your bub has never had dairy products before I would watch for skin reactions.
