At 15 months I found my DS was getting less interested in feeding. He was more interested in using a cup. Plus I wanted to wean him before we fell pregnant with No 2.
It was the right thing for us though I do miss it a lot. In less than 8 months time though I will be breastfeeding no 2 |

Sorry should add that while I was breastfeeding, I was getting sick regularly and so was DS and when we stopped we both got sick a lot less (I think this might have something to do with him getting most of his teeth in by then). However when he did fall sick, the fever would be much higher than they used to be and they lasted a lot longer.

Hi OP! My DD is 14 months, DH and I both work full time and have a lot of commitments helping family etc, and she is bfing the same amount as your son. I feel really really really run down, I know exactly how you feel! I used to go for a long jog every night. I am so tired I usually dont have the energy to walk. I have also put on a HEAP of weight since going back to work despite a healthy diet. Is this the case with you too if you dont mind me asking?
Unfortunately for me DD doesnt drink milk out of a cup or bottle (she will drink water though). I would happily wean her at this age if she would let me I did get everything checked at the docs and it was fine but they said I had very low blood sugar so I should snack often on low GI foods. I have been giving this a go and it does seem to help a little. So you could try that. I take calcium and iron tablets too. I am going to remove the boob completely in a couple more months. She does eat a lot of cheese and yoghurt so the doc said it should be ok. Its mainly that its going to be tough getting her to sleep at night, so I have to psyche myself up for that. Im too tired at the moment. |

Hi Soccer Mum, I am also having trouble finding the time/ energy to exercise and I have actually been wondering whether that might not be part of the problem? I wonder if I would actually have more energy if I was able to do some regular exercise. I am going to try and join the gym and go for a quick run twice a week during my lunch hour and a zumba class on Sat mornings and see if that helps. I have also taken some almonds to work to eat when I am feeling low instead of chocolate!
Hani, we are also thinking of trying for #2 soon and I def dont want to be pregnant AND feeling run down and BFing so I would like to wean DS before then anyway- having another BFing experience to look forward to must be a nice comfort! This post has been edited by Pocket79: 01/04/2012, 06:06 PM |
