In reference to Judy Blume, I read a great book a few yaers ago that had a title like "everything I learned about being a girl, I learned from Judy Blume". It was a collection of stories and reminiscences from a whole bunch of different writers on their experiences relating to Judy Blume characters growing up. Another interesting non fiction one I read a while back was The Girl from Ames about a group of women who remained friends from primary school right into adulthood.
