I'm a bit confused... unsure.gif

I got a clear positive OPK on CD 16, so I was thinking I'd O on CD 17-18. (Irregular periods, and normally O on CD 16 or 17). I'd done OPKs for 2 days before that and got a very faint line on CD 14 and then a faint line on CD15. Checked to be sure on CD17 and it was a negative OPK, so I felt like it was clear that I O'd on CD17-18.

So.... I have a cycle that's normally 29-30 days. I counted back 6 days from when AF should arrive and decided to do a First Response test on that day, which was yesterday, thinking that I wasn't going to get anything, or maybe a very, very faint line.

What I got, though, was a pretty strong line on 8DPO. And did another one this morning (9DPO) and got an even stronger one. (Posted a pic of it for my DIG from when I had my DS and everyone was saying it was a very strong line for 8DPO!)

So, I'm wondering a few things: Are positive OPKs fairly trustworthy (I got internet cheapies)? And if not, and I did O on the day it predicted, does that mean I could be carrying twins...? I thought 8DPO was pretty early for a positive test... Or could there be any other reason for that?

Hope that all makes sense!!!

Firstly Congratulations on the BFP!
As far as I know, internet cheapies are just as good as any other a picking up the LH surge so it does sound like a strong 8 DPO line. From what I've read, HCG levels can vary very much from individual - which is why some people don't get a BFP for even a week after their period was due. I'm thinking twins are definitely a possibility. I would be booking in for a 7 week scan!

Definently possible to get a BFP at 8dpo they say you can get it from 7dpo depending on the person. I used internet cheapies but once got BFP I got a FRER just to make sure the other test wasn't faulty. Done 4 test now and still BFP. I would get another brand just to make sure if your not sure. Congrats btw.

I dont trust those OPK's at all. I have had un-clear results at times and other times have has clear results. I have used the saliva test and it never matched the OPK's. When I asked the GP he told me that the LH surge usually means ov is going to happen soon but not always.

We got a BFP this month when BD didnt match the OPK as DH was away for work at what should have beent the right time

The pregnancy I am currently carrying had a BFP at 8DPO and my hcg numbers were very high from the get go (about 5 days ahead based on averages). I am only carrying one baby and the scans have all confirmed my dates are spot on and that BFP was 8DPO for sure.
