(Sorry for the new thread, but I am having a lot of trouble posting in the other cooktop thread this morning).
For those with induction cooktops, many recommend Electrolux or Smeg. What about Fisher & Paykel, any good? I've seen a good deal.... This post has been edited by sophiasmum: 04/04/2012, 05:26 PM |

Oh that's a shame. I have another brand altogether, so can't comment. My suggestion is to try the whirlpool forums, they have lots of consumer Questions about induction cooktops. GL

I'm bumping this because after the other thread I'd decided on an induction cook top and I hate the whirlpool forums.
Anyone? |

So what is your brand TheGreenSheep & are you happy with it?
I just found out from our kitchen people that if I get a larger than standard 60cm cooktop I'll need a 90cm rangehood & I don't really want to do that (lose cupboard space above). So back to 60cm recommendations.... |

I have a 90cm Siemens. I have been v.happy with it! Although I know you aren't able to have 90cm. It's recessed I to the bench, so it's prefectly flat, no ridge around it to catch food or splatter and have to clean around. it had a 5yr guarantee. It had a timer function. Great layout of cooking zones.
At the time (2years ago) I was contemplating Siemens, Miele, Bosch, and F&P. Have to say I've not regretted my decision. |

I haven't used their induction cooktops but two of the most reliable brands in home appliances are Miele and Bosch. I opted for Bosch appliances because they are more affordable than Miele, and so far I'm more than happy. If I had more room in the budget I would have gone for Miele though.
I don't like Smeg as a general rule (overpriced, products aren't great, might as well get their cheaper Omega brand), and there are numerous reasons why I don't like Electrolux and any of it's other brands (Simpson, Dishlex, and so on), so I tend to avoid them. Fisher & Paykel I think even less of than Smeg and Electrolux (I find those two tolerable and may purchase if required, but F&P I will never buy unless something drastically changes with their products). I would personally opt for a Miele induction cooktop if you can afford it, they make fantastic products, incredibly functional, effective at what they are supposed to do, and the products themselves are very reliable. Otherwise I'd look at Bosch, or maybe Blanco. All of those before the Electrolux I think. If the choice was only between Smeg and Electrolux I'd pick Electrolux purely because they are cheaper and aren't *terrible* products. This post has been edited by Amanda_R: 25/03/2012, 12:44 PM |

We bought a cheap one (Omega?) for two different houses (3 years apart) and have been more than happy with both induction cooktops - performance, cleaning etc.

I would look at Miele, Bosch and Electrolux. The first two brands because they are known to produce reliable kitchen appliances. I know Miele have a good name with induction cookers. I haven't heard quite so much about Bosch, but they are well known for other cooktops and ovens, so I would expect them to put out a decent induction. I would also consider Electrolux because quite a bit of effort was put into the development of their induction cooktops (as I understand it, they saw it is an opportunity to gain more of a reputation to be taken as a 'serious' kitchen supplier). I'm also swayed by the endorsement of Tetsuya Wakuda, who has installed Electolux induction cooktops in his home kitchen, as well as in some of his restaurants.
The best way to check them out is to go into a showroom, ask and get the brochures and do the comparisons. I don't think you're really going to go too wrong with those 3 brands. It also comes down to what styling you like on a cooktop as well. Plus, your budget. |

Hi, we put in a De Dietrich - they are the French company who pioneered induction technology. We love it but the circuit board has needed repairs twice under warranty. Seems to be filed properly now. We absolutely love it and would still recommend the brand. Very expensive but kitchen appliances are worth it IMO. Otherwise I know that Miele induction are very good.
Enjoy!! |
