We were getting ready to board a train home from Southern Cross station this afternoon when dd fell between the platform and the train as she went to step on, I was just about to tell her to take a big step while my aunty was just about to grab her hand to help her on. It all happened so fast and all I can remember is screaming at them not to let the train move and one of the passengers helping me pull her up.
One of the the other passengers rang an ambulance for her as she was bleeding from the back of her head while my nan ran back upstairs to alert staff. I honestly don't think I have ever been so scared in my life and I cannot thank the man who helped us enough, he waited by our side for as long as he could to make sure she was on.

Thankfully all she required was so glue to the gash on her head but I can't help but think of how much worse it could of been.

One of the security guards has offered to help me get in touch with the man who helped us and I would like to get him a thank you gift but have no idea what, does anyone have any suggestions?

I think a card is all that is needed. The reward of seeing your DD would hpave been gift enough for him I imagine. Thank god she is ok, what a nightmare.

It must have been terrifying for her and you. I am so glad she is okay now.

I remember reading an article a year or so ago about several incidents where people had fallen between the platform and the train at Southern Cross and been injured. It does seem to be an ongoing issue there.

How scary, I've seen this happen before to a youngish boy traveling alone, the doors even closed and the whistle blew but the emergency alarm thing was activated, very lucky boy was very shaken. I hope your dd is ok and not going to suffer any anxiety etc, poor thing.

As for the man, a lotto gift pack or some chocolates would be nice I think.

What might be nice is a thank you card from your daughter. She could draw a picture of something nice and you could write a thank you. I'm glad she is okay apart from a cut on the back of her head. It will probably take you longer to get over it.

Oh my goodness OP, what a horrible situation. So glad your DD is okay. As for the man I'm sure he would appreciate a card with some well chosen words.
