DS commando crawled from 7 months, 4-pt crawled around 11.5 months, and walked at 16 months.

At 20 months, he's amazing. Literally climbing trees, walking balance beams, running across suspension bridges, two-feet jumping on bouncy castles.

He didn't rush, but he sure got there.

I had the same issue with my DS. I actually ended up getting my chiro to have a look at him (she is paed qualified) and she said he was missing a hip reflex and was very stiff through the hips. She has been working on him for about 3 weeks and he is now getting up on all fours quite frequently (though still going back on his belly to crawl) and doing the rocking on all fours thing... so after 3 months of commando crawling I feel as though she is doing something that works

Since when was commando crawling not normal?
DD commando crawled until around 11 months when she started to crawl on all fours.
Stop forcing her to do something she is obviously not ready to do!

Two of my kids commado crawled at 7.5 months then normal crawl just after 9 months. They got super fast and efficient at the commando crawling too. OP it sounds totally normal.

My dd didn't ever crawl 'properly'. She started commando crawling at 11 months so pretty late by most peoples standards.

My DD commando crawled until she got her glasses on at 12 months. I think she felt safer closer to the ground, when she couldn't really see what she was doing.

but thast is an unusual case. Lots of kids take their time with something or other and catch up quickly.

One of mine walked late and is now quite athletic. The other crawled and walked early and is still a bit clumsy.

It is still early days fora ll these skills to develop.

Some people lay their kids on their fronts with their feet on a wall or the couch, to encourage them to push off and get started, but I never did any of that. They all crawled and walked in the end.

DD is 9.5 months and only commando. All she wants to do now is stand up or crawl over things, but not across the floor on her knees. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I wouldn't stress - she's getting from A to B.

My 1st Commando'd till over 1yr! then normal crawled for a few months then walked at 16m
2nd commando's earlier then normal crawled for longer then walked finally at 18m!
My 3rd is currently 6.5m and is rolling and has no strength to crawl so will be a while till that happens.

Its the cross patterning that is essential for their brain linking/development so commando or hands and knees is no different. BUT obviously commando is way dirtier and ruins their clothes heaps more than hand and knees (I think anyway)

My DD never 'normal' crawled. From 10mths she just commando crawled and then she didn't walk to 17.5mths! She skipped normal crawling all together!
