No. I had an emergency for the first. But planned for second. Even though that was planned I did have in mind after no.1 what I wanted. I wanted skin-to-skin in theatre, I wanted to feed her in recovery and I didn't want her whisked away to the nursery - I wanted to keep her with me as much as I could. And I did insist on these things and was honoured with them. They weren't officially written down but I did know what I wanted

I had an emergency cs under a ga but was able to feed my son briefly in recovery, and I had a PCA, so those are things you can request.
You can also ask for things like Not being told the sex until you see the bub, or having your partner announce it. Delayed cord cutting Partner to cut cord Photography/video - in my case the paediatrician did it. There's even a protocol for the mother to assist in lifting out the baby. http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2007/04/...5971419538.html The other preferences you might want to put in ( this happened to me) is what you want to happen if the baby needs to be separated - for example who goes with bub, they should do skin to skin, your views on formula. |
