DH and I are super clucky but we're holding off TTC for another month or two for practical and financial reasons.

Well, this morning the condom broke and poor DH was almost excited at the thought that we could fall pregnant. I had to tell him that it's almost impossible as I don't even seem close to ovulating yet (cycles still messed up coming off the pill) rolleyes.gif

Has anyone BD'd several days before O and still fallen pregnant? Or at a time when you thought you weren't ovulating, but still ended up pregnant?

I know in my heart it's not happening this month, but I can still wish wink.gif

Puts my O day at 4th Feb. As you can see in my chart I disregarded a few temps because I had a cold, the only time I remember us DTD is around 31st Jan/1st Feb.
And some how I am now pregnant.

Sperm can live for up to 5 days down there so you can technically fall preggers if your last BD was somewhere within the last 5 days of O..

4 days before for DD (which was deliberate as we were trying to swing the odds towards a girl)

Thanks ladies, great stories!! biggrin.gif

Last month I got 5-7 days of fertile CM and it hasn't started yet this month so I still think we don't have much chance.

On a side note, does anyone know exactly where the sperm live for up to 5 days? Do they go into the uterus? Or just around the outside of the cervix??

Trying to remember but I *think* they get trapped along the walls of the fallopian tubes and they kind of shut down until they are stimulated into action by hormones, etc.(and if that takes too long then obviously they die off)

With # 5 I either ovulated on or around day 4 of a period ( a 'pill' period) or the sperm lived a very long time.

My DH was heading off for 2 weeks for work and we DTD before he left. I still had a very light period.
We did not have sex for the rest of that month, he was over the Tasman.
By the time he got back I was already exhausted and feeling sick, I thought I had a virus because nobody gets pregnant when they have their period rolleyes.gif
I did.

Yep, this pregnancy. I have long cycles and DH was at a conference when I expected to ovulate. I had written it off as possible. And in retrospect I probably did ovulate when I thought I would based on my later HCG levels and dating scans (which dated me over a week after he left town, and both correlated with each other).

But there are huge variations in everything - foetal size even in early pregnancy, cycle length and when you ovulate, how long sperm can last, HCG levels.... Unless you are having IVF, it's impossible to know for sure!
