If you're not paying, you're the product.
I am not anti-vax STBG. I just had a flu vax yesterday in fact.

What's that saying about assuming...?

Hmmmm? Perhaps it was that you said this in another thread? unsure.gif

"It's not a vaccination payment, it's an immunisation payment. I'm a non-vaxer and it was paid to me without any request from me. Just one day it was there in my bank account. I highly doubt that $150 or so would be enough of an incentive to sway a non-vaxer towards vaccinating."

Considering I thought i was in my 10 year period but got it as they dont think my immunity lasted so I would use tax payers money and get the test.

except that, as bertbub posted, a serology test is not helpful in determining whooping cough immunity - best bet seems to be to get the vaccine repeated at the 10 year mark.

STBG - can you point out the bit to me that promotes non-vaccination or is anti-vaccination?

I do not vaccinate my children. I'm certainly not campaigning one way or another for what people do with their own children (unlike you). It's not my business at all to make comment on other people's health choices, as you would well know from your years as a health worker.

I make NO excuses for advocating for vaccination. That would be because all my years as a health worker has made it blatantly obvious that it is just a really poor decision for our community at large to not vaccinate unless there is a medical reason to not do so! It is not only my business but also my duty of care to do so.

If you are not campaigning one way or another then perhaps you should stay out of threads such as this where the OP is not asking for an opinion on whether she should vacc but WHEN she should vacc ..... what you say is irrelevant to a vaccinator!

Edited for spelling...thanks pt happy.gif

I didn't offer an opinion on whether or not she should vaccinate. I merely stated that if she carried antibodies, it was unnecessary. You are the one who is trying to bully me into offering an opinion and making assumptions about my intentions.

I'd say that if YOU ARE campaigning one way or another you should stay out of threads such as this where the OP did not ask for an opinion on whether or not she should vaccinate.

PS the word you're looking for is blatantly original.gif

Despite decades of high vaccination coverage, pertussis has remained endemic and reemerged as a public health problem in many countries in the past 2 decades. Waning of vaccine-induced immunity has been cited as one of the reasons for the observed epidemiologic trend. A review of the published data on duration of immunity reveals estimates that infection-acquired immunity against pertussis disease wanes after 4-20 years and protective immunity after vaccination wanes after 4-12 years. Further research into the rate of waning of vaccine-acquired immunity will help determine the optimal timing and frequency of booster immunizations and their role in pertussis control.

Thanks for your help with my spelling......I actually do quite well normally, sometimes I hit the wrong key rolleyes.gif

You are starting to sound a little bit confused powertripper, I am not campaigning at all, as someone who has been previously and recently vaccinated I saw the thread and came in to answer the question, aside from that there is no need for me to campaign in here........everyone who has replied vaccinates!

FWIW--You are wrong about the antibody thing anyway. Please note the response from the immunologist 'bertbub'

Either you are campaigning therefore you feel entitled to post in this thread, or you're not in which case, by your own argument, you shouldn't be posting here.
