Bought Granny undies after reading a thread like this before my C-Section and never needed them! Just wore Bonds bikinis.
Comfy tracksuit / yoga pants were good while in hospital, but I left the hospital wearing jeans. I didn't need a nightie as I just wore the hospital gown until the catheter was removed. |

I wore my regular hipster briefs and Bonds maternity knickers. Yoga pants and my maternity jeans were what I lived in until about 8 weeks when I felt I could get into a regular pair of jeans (but a size bigger than normal). Good luck

I wear nanna knickers anyway so I just had these as you can stick a pad across the scar to absord any fluid and just make it more comfortable when healing.

The nanna knickers actually dug in around my upper belly and were so abrasive for me, in the end I just stuck to my regular underwear and felt so much better and for the maternity pads they fit snuggly and I felt more secure in my regular underwear and the pads did not move at all as opposed to the knickers.
IMO pack both because you may find out that you might not prefer the nanna knickers post surgery. |

I have had 2 c-sections, i bought 4 pairs of black bonds cottontail type undies except the target brand and kept them to use again the second time. I also got them in a bigger size, I think I might have even gone 2 sizes up for comfort as your belly is still big and I did not want them to cut into my skin and feel too tight.
There is no way maternity pads would fit in my regular undies as I wear very low cut ones and the pad would stick out both the front and back of them. Both my elective c/s's turned into emergencies when I went into labour prior to my surgery date with both of them. Both were very early hours of the morning and I stayed in a hospital gown for 2+ days. I did not have my catheter removed for around 33 hours after the birth and could barely walk without help from DH to get to the bathroom when I finally had it taken out. From reading these forums I have noticed most people get theirs out a lot sooner, I could only just move my toes about 16 hours after surgery. I think it took a lot more anaesthetics than most people for me to stop feeling the ice on my skin, so that could be why it took me longer to get mobility back. It was not till the following day from having catheter removed that I changed into my clothes. I wore long loose tops over either my regular pants with belly belt still on from pregnancy or some comfy soft stetchy yoga/ workout pants. Good luck OP This post has been edited by blue4me: 19/03/2012, 02:45 PM |

Yep another fan of granny undies post c/s here! Although I actually wore Depend disposable undies for the first couple of days, great for blood loss and could chuck em out, plus they're high waisted! Midwives thought it was a great idea.

I also stuck to normal undies as my scar was really low but I lived in bike pants as I really liked the support around my tummy!

Normal undies for me. I actually found the granny undies annoyed me, I didn't like anything up over my tummy.
Never bothered with the pad across the incision either. I had a dressing covering it for the first couple of days, and then nothing. Didn't have any problems with fluid from the wound either. Nighttime - I wore nightgowns. Had a couple that buttoned at the front, nice soft material. I tend to wear nightgowns normally. Daytime - with my first, yes, I got up and got dressed everyday. My SIL turned up when DD was 3 days old, and was shocked to find me up and dressed. 2nd time around, I stayed in my pjs |

Granny undies all the way. High enough to go over the scar. I wore a pad over the stitches to stop them sticking as well as for the bleeding, and the Granny undies kept everything in place. I wore maternity singlet tops and undies to sleep. Normal pj pants when i had guests, but I wasn't particularly fussed on looking glamourous whilst there, just comfortable. Good luck!
