Hi,

My period has never been regular except when I was on the pill. I haven't been on the pill for quite some time and I'm currently 21 days late. I have been late before but I don't think I've ever been this late. I don't really have any symptoms except for the occasional slight nausea (which is normal for me anyway). I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative.

Is it possible the home test gave a false negative or is that fairly unlikely given that I'm already 3 weeks late and have no symptoms?

Anything is possible so really a blood test from your GP is the best way to get quick answers.

Unfortunately when it happened to me it was just a really long cycle and AF ended up coming quite late.

You can get false positives on HPTs but with your AF being 3 weeks late I would imagine that would be fairly rare.

Do you know when you O'd? You possibly O'd later in your cycle, which would mean that your not late, just having a longer cycle than normal.

If your cycles are mostly irregular, then you should start charting & using OPK's so you know for sure when you O & how long your LP is.

Good Luck. original.gif

If you have irregular periods, I would be visiting my GP to have a chat about it.

My only other advice is to test first thing in the morning. I was late and kept testing in the evenings with neg results. One morning, as an afterthought, we figured we may as well use the last test "just to check" as we were planning on drinking that night...and it was positive wub.gif

Thanks all, I'm actually not ttc but this seemed to be a good place for advice.

I'm not sure when I o'd and the test I took was first thing in the morning so it's most likely correct I'd say. But it looks like I have missed that period altogether. I'm due for the next one this week so if it doesn't show up either I'll be heading to the doctor to see what is going on.
