wondering what keeps everyones toddlers busy while you are on hold on the phone or trying to cook dinner??i normally set up their little craft table and have some pencils or playdough or something and can monitor that while stuck on hold....
or any vehicle seems to keep them happy.... just thought all you wise mums and dads out there might have some great ideas that i hadnt thought of.... |

Apparently trying to spin my head by slapping my cheek is pretty fun. That, and pulling my ears.

Tv but normally they just hang off my legs when cooking dinner or try to "help" even fi the TV is on. And anyone who rings my house hears screaming in the background

Isn't it funny how they can play happily for a while, but the SECOND you're on the phone, they NEED you RIGHT NOW!!!
Going outside while she plays is ok for a few minutes, or TV |

I get her to "help" . Means more mess but it helps us connect at the end of the day and all I'd hear is "mummy up!" or "mummy, come heeeeere!" as she tries to tug me wherever she wants me to go anyway.
Books, ABC kids, ribbons - kids seems to love dancing with them- are all winners here as well. And blocks. Oh, also access to the tupperware cupboard. |

iPad or tv.
Judge me - but it means I get the important stuff done. |

Tv, plastics cupboard, blackboard, the visuals on windows media player when music on and usually any remote will buy me up to 10 minutes if im lucky.
never again will dd get my phone, 20 odd msgs and 50 odd cancelled when i got phone back, calls to abc shop (think she wanted to do a xmas order) and various other calls. My credit suffered that week. |

iPad is a good one to bring out at 'those times'. I'm not one for colouring/craft as I'm needed too much for supervision (we do those things when Im not trying to cook/get something done). I use TV too. I involve my DD in cooking/setting table when she's in a reasonable mood.
