Rego inspection ACT

Looking at buying a larger car but it is a private sale ( don't feel like paying the "Canberra car yard tax"). Does anyone know of a really good mechanic who can do this Don't want to find problems after I buy the car This post has been edited by somebody_new: 10/03/2012, 10:47 AM

Depends if you just want someone to inspect the car mechanically or if you want them to be able to issue a rego certificate as well. Also depends on the sort of car - if it was a 4WD and you are southside I can recommend Hume Off Road. They do all our mechanical work on our 4WDs and also did a pre-purchase inspection on the vehicle we just bought (and found a few minor problems we would not have found on our own). For rego inspections we go to Gastune in Tuggeranong - but that is because our vehicles are LPG and need a gas certificate as well as a normal rego inspection.

Not sure but I think they usually advertise if they do it, i am picturing some green triangle logo they stick on their stuff if they are able to do it. I totally understand where you are coming from and will never buy a car from a dealer again if I can help it!

Thanks ladies It is a 7 seater and still registered. Just wanted to make sure there was nothing I can't see. I am southside but the car is northside.

I had one of these done at the mechanics near the intersection of Ashley Dr and Erindale Dr (near what is now the 711) once - was happy with their service.
