If I was to have my baby shower 4 weeks before I'm due, is that too late?

One of my close friends is due 7 weeks before me and obviously I want her to be able to come, so trying to make sure the date allows for her even if she goes 10 days over.

Too late for what?? I don't think there's a time limit for baby showers.
But your friend might not want to go out right after the birth. If she's having trouble breastfeeding, or the baby's had any birth issues, she might not make it, or feel like coming.
Ask her and see how she'd feel at missing out and then decide.

It's doubtful everyone will make it anyway. You could always get together just the 2 of you before her baby comes.

With my first I had mine around 30 weeks. This way I had time to see what I received and I had time to get what else I needed. My friend is due with her 3rd and never had a baby shower so we are giving her one in her early 30th week. HTH

I had mine on 27 Aug & gave birth on 21 Sept so about the same as you but I agree with Jenflea that if your friend has just given birth she may not feel up to going to your shower.

I was due yesterday (still no movement) and my friends threw me a baby shower 2 weeks prior. There wasn't a lot of choice because the preceding few months have been taken up with moving house and generally having no time.

There was still plenty of time to get the few extra things I needed before the due date.

It also lessened the amount of time for people to start with the old 'have you had that baby yet?'.
