A few friends and I (met through Playgroup) are setting up a babysitting circle.
There are a few online services which offer to run your circle for you (email other members about bookings, notify about bookings, send alert etc etc). They purport to be free but usually charge (a monthly or SMS fee) even though their registration is free.
I wonder if anyone uses or knows of a properly free site for running a babysitting circle?
Alternatively, I guess we could just use emails and rotate the role of Secretary. Any tips from Circles operating along these lines now?
Id appreciate your advice! Mumma Dynamite

My mum used one when we were children - back in the 70s before online babysitting circles. They issued each member with a number of curtain rings. You gave a curtain ring to the person who babysat and once your curtain rings were gone, no more babysitting until you did some and got some rings back.

Yeah, thanks, my family were also part of one in the 80s. It worked well but had ground rules which it required to operate : no need to feed the sitter; credits doubled after 11pm; role of secretary rotated every 2 months etc etc. This was pre-Internet and pre-email, so it was all via phone. I'm sure there are great online resources available and keen to hear from people who have used those too :)Cheers Sitters!

My parents also did this in the 80s. It was run with a 'ledger' to record debits and credits and phone calls but I think the internet would make it a lot easier.
