BTK, I think you've misunderstood the purpose of their protest.

It isn't that they believe the war is wrong. It's that they believe the war is right, and they see deaths of American soldiers as evidence of a lack of God's favour; the equation runs roughly that America is sinful, therefore God has withdrawn his blessing, therefore our soldiers are losing the fight we should be winning. Repent and we will win!

Like you, I find it abhorrent - but I guess we ought to understand what it is that we abhor!

I can even quote the Scripture to prove it: "An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign."

They are the price to be paid for having 'Freedom of Speech' enshrined in the USA's Constitution. Horrible people.

Still, nice to see some of their targets have a good sense of humour about them.

Perhaps we need to support this new craze of signing them out, instead of planking lol.

They do not display anything that is remotely Christian. They are in themselves - God haters because God is LOVE and nothing about them spells LOVE. They HATE people...they make me feel so ill sad.gif

What fresh hell is this?
Sorry, Ange what I was attempting to say is that even though I have an opposition to those wars, I would never protest at a dead soldiers funeral to disrupt it, and I find the thought of doing so, for whatever reason, abhorrent. I understand that they think the wars are just, but I cannot fathom why they would choose the funeral of a dead soldier to make a political point, when that person and their family are in no way, shape or form affiliated with the Westboro "church".

Louis Theroux did a follow up visit to the cult. They were worse than ever, but there was a weird vibe about them. I said to DH that I think they might be planning to drink the cool aid soon.

They're a waste of space and oxygen. It should be noted they are in no way related to the Baptist Church and they do not represent any of the views and values held by the Baptist Church. Similarly they do not share or in any way reflect the views and values of ordinary Christians or anyone of any faith for that matter.

Mexy, the cult at Jonestown committed mass murder/suicide (918 people) by drinking cyanide laced kool aid.
