Loved it, altough it took a bit of practice to insert. Couldn't claim it off my PHI, I think it was around $80 for 3 months. Didn't have to worry about missed pills or vomiting/diarrhoea and wondering if I should take another pill. Plus the side effects were less than the pill.

I tried the nuvaring very very briefly. I was still BFing and my GP had said that it wouldn't affect my supply. But within 8 hours, my supply dropped dramatically. I can't tell you much else as I stopped using it within that first day as it was important to me to continue BFing. I only know of one other woman who has used it (no BFing involved in her case) and she tried it for a couple of months, felt yuck on it (hormonal mood changes and general feeling of PMS related stuff) and went back to the pill.

Also, in my case, I generally have difficulties with finding suitable contraception, and my friend tried it quite recently after the birth of her child so our experiences may be not the average experience. I'm all for contraception options, so now I've finished BFing I may actually try it again. Thanks for the prompt and I'll be keen to follow this thread.

GP's can be so inconsistent! My sister wanted to start using a novaring but her GP said absolutely not if she was breastfeeding! She said the hormones would pass to the baby and it would also dry her supply up!

I tried the Nuvaring because at the time all of the BCPs I was trying were making me vomit. The idea was that the hormone would be directly released into my uterus and not via my gut. It worked great for a few months but then the vomiting started again. Blugh!
