3 1/2yo DD is getting interested in doing writing type books, like trace the letter etc and counting etc. she goes to preschool 2 days a week and will be going to school in 2 years.

i was wondering what activities i could do at home to help her without pushing too hard. ds was never interested in doing stuff before starting school. i think it is because dd sees ds doing work that she wants to do it

Do what ever she is interested in. You can buy cheap simple pre-school books with counting , colouring, writing activities from the supermarket, toy stores, kmart etc. Dot-to-Dots or mazes. You can google free printables and print some off. You can make up stuff yourself. Get her to copy meaningful words or letters and draw matching pictures. Draw collections for her to count and write the number.

Get her to help you write shopping lists, write birthday cards, write and draw letters to friends and post in the letterbox. Chalk drawing is a huge interest at our house.

My DS1 used to love sitting and doing 'work' sometimes - especially maths related stuff. I just helped him do whatever he was interested in, and when he got bored, he's go off and play.

As long as it is fun for them, and they want to do it, you really can't go wrong.
