My wedding dress came from China. I sent them my measurements and a picture of the dress I wanted, and it came back perfect, and it was only $200ish as opposed to the original $1500.

PM me if you want the details of the site I bought it through and pictures etc

I bought my wedding dress and all bridesmaids dresses from dressilyme.

All dresses were custom made to size.

My dress is utterly gorgeous and beautifully made. I sew, so I checked all of the seams etc. after I received it to see if it was made poorly, but no, it is really, really well made. The material is a really good quality bridal satin. I paid about $200 for it, including having some extra Swarovski crystals added. Like the PP I send them pictures of the front and back of the dress I wanted and they made it for me. It arrived within 3 weeks of placing my order and fit perfectly.

The bridesmaids dresses are gorgeous. I liked a style of dress but not the colour and requested a different one, plus custom sizing. The dresses ended up almost perfect. I didn't know the height of the heels the girls will be wearing and I overestimated the length of the dresses, but other than that they do not require any alterations.

If your friend does decide to buy from OS, make sure she buys a sample chart for the different types of material she is considering for her dress. The colours do vary from what is shown on screen.

My best friend did this (I think it was through ebay even?) and it came out perfect. I think her dress was about $200?

I just received my wedding dress from OS last week and it's made really well but it's far too big in the top half. They got the measurements seriously wrong. It will cost me a fortune to have it altered with no guarantee it'll be good!

As we're getting married in a month i now have to start again from scratch so will look in stores. Thankfully it only cost me $120+$40 postage and as it's made well i will try and sell it on ebay. The website was www.jjshouse.com

Whatever she decides i suggest making sure you have plenty of time if things go wrong so order well in advance...oh and have low expectations so if it's bad she wont be too upset but if it's great she'll be pleasently surprised!

Good luck and happy shopping!

I got my wedding dress custom-made from China, through ebay... 2 of them actually, because I ordered one design and then had second thoughts when I found my bridesmaids dresses! I figured at under $200 each I was still miles ahead financially than if I'd bought one even off the rack here. Both fitted perfectly, well made, etc. Unworn second dress went to Vinnes, hopefully appreciated by someone!

I got mine from lightinthebox. Mine is a copy of the dress Kate Hudson wore in Bridesmaids. It cost me $350 delivered including the petticoat. That was with custom measurements and the sizing was fine (I have since lost weight though.) I was surprised with the quality given how cheap it was. On the plus side, if I lose a LOT of weight, I'll just get another dress original.gif

This is my dress but with a gold belt.

We'll be ordering bridesmaids dresses from the same place original.gif

I had 5 different dresses made, formal dresses for functions, total cost $700 from two different suppliers.

I can't wear a single one of them. Even though they were all custom made to my measurements, they are completely wrong. The quality wasn't especially good either.

Thankfully though I was using it as a test run before I buy a wedding dress. I would have hated to have the same experience then.

my sister got her wedding dress and the 3 bridesmaid dresses, all custom made from OS (china?)

The wedding dress was gorgeous, good quality satin and well made. I think it was about $250

The bridesmaids dresses were also custom made - they were based on a photo but descriptions for different necklines (one strapless, one halter and one with normal straps). Think they were $50 each. Did have to get them hemmed (once heels were bought) and I changed the neckline of mine a bit but other than that they were great.

PM me if you want me to track down the website.

As PPs have said, just make sure you allow time for things to go wrong or have alternations done
