If it helps, my little boy was notorious for catnapping until about 8 months old, he started throwing in the occasional 2 hr sleep. Then they just increased & catnapping rarely happened by the time he was 9 months... I think if I had the time I would rock him to resettle, but I would always try to leave him in his cot for the length of time he was 'supposed' to be asleep, provided he wasn't too upset. Must have worked cuz he grew out of it.

when you say rock back & forth do you mean up & down or side to side? My almost 7 month old is very difficult to settle without feeding to sleep (sorry OP to hijack thread). I just tried this technique but DS kept trying to roll over & eventually worked himself up to screaming so I had to stop. I'm just not sure I'm doing it the right way? Is it one hand on bottom & the other hand rocking them...while trying to stop them rolling?

No need to worry bout hijacking lol. My son does the same I put his dummy in, try to pat him rock him what ever I can, he sleeps on his side so I try to turn him on his side and rock him back and forth but he just screams and arches his back and refuses to settle unless he gets bottle or breast. The last 4 days I have increased his food and keeping him up for longer during the day and just letting him have a morning and afternoon sleep. He has been sleeping a lot better at night. Going down at 8pm waking for a feed around 1am and 5am then getting up at 7am. I am now in heaven and finally getting the sleep I so badly needed and wanted original.gif
