Birthday Cake dilemma..., Need an A4 size caramel cake

DS wants a hero factory cake - after some searching I buy an A4 edible cake topper with a hero factory picture. I plan to put this on a slab cake from woolies... all good. Then, I find that I have left it too late to order the slab cake from Woolies and to make it worse DS wants a caramel mudcake. I knwo exactly what he is thinking of - the $5 round mudcakes from Coles. There are only 10 children at the party so the cake doesn't have to be particularly big. So, I am after ideas about how I can magic up a cake that is caramel mudcake and can fit on the cake topper? Without much effort on my part and cheaply!

I think you can buy caramel mudcake packet mixes. Alternatively, I once made a regular buttercake and bunged in a tin of caramel top n fill just before I put it in the oven. It worked out ok You might want to have a practice run though, my cooking is a little bit dodgy at the best of times.

Get a couple of the cakes from coles and cut them so they form a rectangle? You could stick them together with some of the icing scraped off the top.
