Hi,

Just wondering do you send or child to school or keep them at home if it is a really hot day?

The forecast is 42 degrees for tommorow and Im not sure whether to send my children DS6, DS5 to school or not, as they dont air conditioned classroooms.

DS5 is going to have yearly class photos tommorow, so it would be a pity for him to miss out on that.

Does the school have a policy on hot weather?

I don't yet have a school aged child but I probably wouldn't if I know they'd be running around outside, but if I knew they'd be kept inside and there were fans, then probably would

Absolutely! All our classrooms are airconditioned though (QLD public school).

If he has photos tomorrow, can you just send him for the session then stay the rest of the day at home?

With no air con, I don't think I would. Growing up we were sent home when it reached 40 I think. ds' school has air con so I do send him as it's cooler there than at home.

It wouldn't occur to me not to!

Yes. We live in SA and have some stinkers here.

I soften the blow on hot days by giving them money for a frozen slushy at lunch wink.gif

I would have said yes, but 42 is very hot. I would prob keep mine home if no a/c in classrooms. I would take him for the photo though.
