I had a close call with a car not giving way at 32 weeks. The force of the seatbelt left marks on me. Was observed for a few hours. They did a ultrasound as well. Can you go to another hospital? Just for peace of mind?

I take it the hospital you went to had a maternity unit? If it did I would've thought they'd have stuck a CTG on to monitor baby for quite a while. So you wouldn't necessarily have had to have had a scan but I would've thought that they may have done a little bit more than just a Doppler.

However having said that, how pregnant are you because that would change your management?

Also a quick scan may not show much at the time it's done ie it might show that the heart is beating but may not be on long enough to pick up a deceleration. A CTG is done over a longer period and may pick up other things. But I'm just theorising here.

Can you feel your baby moving (but once again this will depend on how pregnant you are), do you have any other signs that something might be wrong ie bleeding, really bad pain in the abdomen (not connected with your injuries from the accident)?

Far out, with your history they should have done one just for your piece of mind.

As a previous poster said babies are pretty cocooned in there and you did hear heartbeat so it does sound ok but I'm sure you are pretty nervous.

I was involved in a very minor car accident when 30 weeks PG with DS. It was my hospital's policy for me to be hooked up to a CTG for 4 hours to be monitored. A bit overkill IMO. No scan though.

I'm only 17 weeks. I can feel flutters every so often but no proper movement. I was just confused as the midwife wanted one, doctor in emergency said no, and she didn't like the decision. The whole visit was a bit weird actually.

This was a local hospital, not the one I'm booked into because thats where the ambos took me. And yes they had a maternity unit but kept telling me how stretched they were... So maybe they just didn't have time to fuss over me?

You aren't being "a princess". I'm sure your OB will be very understanding and accommodating.

You poor thing - car accidents are so scary and being in shock is an awful feeling. I hope your OB gets back to you ASAP and I am quite sure that they will do whatever it takes for you to be reassured. Definitely not be princess-esque in any way!

I was hit on my side at 24 weeks. My OB sent me straight for a scan, which he performed himself.

The risk is the placenta coming away etc...

I hope all is ok with your little one

I'd go to your booked hospital or call them and explain The situation. honestly. That's something I'd make a huge fuss about. Don't worry about what people think. You won't see them again after your bubs is born. Plus I think it's a valid enough concern to see another hospital about if you are worried.
