I have just found out that the kindy attached to the school I want to send my kids to is already over capacity and as we are not within the zone are probably not going to get a spot. DD1 isn't very robust, she gets pushed around and always waits so I was hoping that she could meet her classmates and get to know them in kindy rather than coming into a class where friends are already made.
If you send your child to a different kindy than school, how did they find school and making friends? |

Hi
Often kids from other kinders join a 'non feeder' school, its very common. I would not stress, making new friends is a good skill for kids to learn I would just see how she goes in the transition. From kinder to prep, its a very nutured change and they are introduced slowly. The kids only need one friend to feel happy and there is a friend for everyone. Another child who is reserved would probably take to your child very quickly. I was this sort of child and I went from kinder and from primary into unknown environments with no friends, it wasnt as bad as it sounds as there are always other people there who a new also! At 35 I am still BF with my BF from grade 1 and we met on the first day and both knew no one. |

I think there will still be plenty of other children who won't know anyone on day 1, they will gravitate towards eachother
